It’s extremely important to me to show who you are in your portraits, not just record what you looked like at a certain point in your life. When this growing family contacted me for their maternity session, I was excited to learn a little bit about them and how to best show their love and anticipation of their son’s arrival.
Mom is into yoga, and is inspired by nature. With that in mind, we set out to capture organic, natural portraits of her (and her beautiful belly). We added in a few yoga poses, as well.
I loved her wardrobe choices– a beautiful flowing skirt and wrap that really harmonized with the fall colors. (I’m quite behind in blogging, as her session took place in the beginning of November!)
I only wish I looked this good in my third trimester! And not only is she in amazing shape, but she and her husband are one of the most kind, gentle, loving couples I have ever had the privilege to meet.

I met this gorgeous mama-to-be at a field in Baltimore at sunset recently. She is expecting twins, and doesn’t she look amazing? I am so excited to meet her babies!

Isn’t that sunset just amazing? Isn’t SHE just amazing?

The first time we attempted this maternity portrait, we were greeted with torrential downpours which certainly put a damper on the sunkissed images we were planning. This has certainly been a wet couple of months here in Baltimore!
The second try worked out perfectly. Warm and sunny with dry grass! This Ellicott City family holds a special place in my heart. I first met them at the maternity session for their now 1 year old daughter. We met again for her newborn session (where she slept and posed like a dream!), and once again for her 1 year lifestyle portraits. (Think pancakes in the kitchen, playing in Mom and Dad’s bed in PJs, snuggling in the glider to read a book, and playing in the living room, topped off with a cake smash– tons of fun!). Now they are expecting baby #2 and I am excited to see the family grow.
